We want to thank the Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC) for all their support! In November 2019 we were awarded a scholarship from the FVC to attend the FVC Stakeholders Conference in Austin, TX. We learned so much and the mentors we met there are invaluable to our growth other the last year! A special thank you to the veteran owned Hollyaire Farms and Next Mission Farms – We cannot thank Heather and Lourence enough for their mentoring advice and steadfast friendship!
We found out last week that the FVC selected McClain’s Meadows for the $5,000 Fellowship Fund Award! We are truly overwhelmed. We know the only way to properly thank the FVC for their support is to PAY IT FORWARD. If you are a veteran who would like to transition to farming or ranching, we would love to mentor you! Check out our nonprofit 501(c)3.
In the next few weeks, we will be using the FVC Fellowship Award to purchase our purebred AKPR registered KuneKune breeding stock so check out our FaceBook page for our new additions and lots of pictures.
We thank FVC and all our customers for their support since starting the farm in 2015. We look forward to growing even more in 2020 & 2021.
WHAT IS THE FARMER VETERAN FELLOWSHIP FUND?
The Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund is a small grant program that provides direct assistance to veterans who are in their beginning years of farming or ranching. The Fellowship Fund does not give money directly to the veteran, but rather to third-party vendors for items the veteran has identified will make a crucial difference in the launch of their farm business. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000, and more than $1.9 million has been awarded to veterans since 2011.
