KuneKune “Mini” Pigs

During our move to Oregon…

Please contact “The Bates Family Farm” in Potlatch Idaho for piglets at tyandashleybates@yahoo.com! The Bates Family Farm is Veteran owned and operated. Highly recommend!

We are in the midst of buying a new 200 acre ranch in O’Brien Oregon. We will be moving our foundation herd down south soon! We anticipate having our first piglet litter in Spring of 2024.

RIHANA AND COCO AS A PIGLET

MORE ABOUT OUR KUNEKUNE BREEDING PROGRAM

In May 2020, we received a fellowship grant from the Farmers Veteran Coalition to purchase our foundation herd of KuneKune pigs. This amazing breed us perfect for our farm because of their smaller size. Large agricultural pig breeds are just too big to be managed on a farm owned and operated by disabled veterans – including the veterans that come through our nonprofit “internship” training program.

While these circumstances led us to this unique breed, KuneKune pigs stole our hearts. Nothing makes us smile more that seeing them run across the pasture when we call for them, their ears and wattles bouncing!

PUA

All of our KuneKune pigs are purebred, genetically verified by UC Davis and registered through AKPR and/or AKKPS. We breed for confirmation, preferring double-wattles (tassels), a high number of even teats to improve piglet survivability and genetic diversity. This is especially important for the conservation of this breed, which almost died out not very long ago! These small and docile breed of pig is easy to feed on pasture with some grain and mineral supplement. They are also easy on fences and on the soil, rooting much less than other breeds of pigs. This is a truly versatile breed that can be raised as a pet, on a homestead for meat or simply bred to support the conservation of the breed.

Please Note!!

There is no such thing as a true “micro” or “teacup” pig! Photoshop Y’ALL!

KuneKune pigs are described as a “mini-pig,” BUT this is in comparison to a traditional farm or livestock agricultural pig breed that typically reaches 1,000 pounds or more!

KuneKune’s average weight range is from 150 to 300 lbs. If you contact me asking for a “micro” “teacup” pig, I will simply say “Well, bless your heart!” before I launch into an educational lecture and offer you a “runt” that may STILL unexpectedly reach 250 lbs!

Prices for this rare heritage breed range from $300 to $800 or more depending on sex, coloring, conformation quality, registration preferences, rarity of bloodlines, etc. Sale price is confirmed at the time of your deposit with a purchase contract so there are no surprises. Please also keep in mind that KuneKune are very social creatures and need a buddy pig to thrive! We offer a foster program or payment plans if you purchasing your first two KuneKunes. We also offer military, veteran, FFA and 4H student discounts.
